‘Tekken 7’ Gameplay Update: ‘Easy mode’ to be implemented? Developer reacts to ‘small roster’ of characters

By

"Tekken 7" is now available all over Japan as the arcade version of the game was released across the country. Bandai Namco wants to lure in more players and decrease the learning curve of the game by implementing an "easy mode". Katsuhiro Harada reacts to his fans' complaint for having a "small roster" of characters in Tekken 7.

GAME RELEASED

"Tekken 7" was released all over Japan this month and gamers who live in the country can now experience the game in its full glory. The game uses Unreal Engine 4 which gives players a high quality visual experience of the game. Katsuhiro Harada claims that "Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, but it also allows us to bring 'Tekken 7' to any platform we desire." This may mean that Bandai Namco aims to release the game not only for PS4 and Xbox One but to the PC as well.

EASY MODE ON

Bandai Namco and the Tekken 7 development team intends to implement a new feature which will level out the learning curve of the game. New comers are often dissuaded to play the game due to the high learning curve in its gameplay including the combo, juggling, distancing and other Tekken game mechanics.

Thus, the Tekken 7 marketing team said that every fighter in the new Tekken 7 roster will have access to a pair of combo attacks that is easy to pull off compared to the other extended combos. This will allow newbies and beginners in the Tekken game franchise to be introduced to the game without overwhelming them.

SMALL CHARACTER ROSTER

Speaking of character rosters, Katsuhiro Harada reacts to the plea of his fans to add their favorite character that has been left out in Tekken 7. Harada tweeted "We need xxxxx!! We need xxxx!! A.D. 2020 TEKKEN ROSTER = 130 characters," when one of his fans asked him to include "Lee Chaolan" in the game.

This is not surprising since the Tekken 7 characters were only 20 when it was first announced, 4 of which were new. Fan favorites such as Lee Chaolan, Lei Wulong, Jin Kazama, Yoshimitsu, and the Williams Sisters were not included in the game. Newly introduced characters in the previous title were also not included in "Tekken 7" including Miguel, Bob, Zafina, Christie Montero, Raven and Craig Marduk. Classic iconic characters such as Roger, Kuma and Panda, Jack, Ganryu were excluded too.

However, Bandai Namco has a history of reintroducing their characters in the future updates of their arcade release. In their previous titles, the company introduced their Tekken characters one by one after having initially released a handful of characters. They may do the same strategy in "Tekken 7".

"Tekken 7"is now available in Japanese Arcade across Japan. It will just be a matter of time before they release the game for PS4, Xbox One and possibly PC since they are using Unreal Engine 4. Character roster of the game may get expanded as fans plea for their favorite characters to comeback in the game.
