12-inch, 13-inch MacBook 2015 Broadwell Release Update: Force Touch Trackpad, Video Editing, Boot Drives and More

By

Apple has updated the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display. Specs boosts include the Broadwell update, 11hours of battery life, and the soldered flash-in memory that can be likened to SSDs found in today's laptops. The Force Touch trackpad has also arrived to the updated MacBook Pro 2015.

The design of the updated 2015 MacBook Pro remains the same, except for the addition of the Force Touch trackpad that adds functionality to the device. The click strength of the track pad can be adjusted from minimal to medium to strong click feedback at the control panel. Force Click can be turned off too, but once this functionality becomes integrated to other programs than Apple-built apps, users will have to learn to use it and get used to it to be able to use those extra programs or applications.

The Retina Display is also retained, and so with the body size and glass and metal built material. In fact, it is the crisp and bright Retina screen display with higher-than 1080p resolution that continues to wow in this MacBook laptop. Moreover, it continues to feature excellent connectivity, with two Thunderbolt 2 ports, an HDMI port, and an SDXC card reader and usb ports, along with bluetooth.

Other boosts arrive in the form of Flash Storage Module which is faster by 1.6GBps. Users that do a lot of video editing or intense local file operations will mostly benefit from it. The MacBook Pro 2015 update also features the OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 and access to pre-installed copies of iLife and iWork. The 128GB boot drive will have plenty of room for such files, while those that need higher than that can upgrade to 256GB or 512GB.

It's important to note that the upgrade is available upon order only. This updated MacBook is priced at $1,299.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Broadwell update remains the most recommend high-end ultraportable Apple laptop for it features a combination of power performance and superb connectivity that the 12-inch new MacBook's inherently slow Intel Core M processor cannot outperform. Whereas, better screen display and still good battery life of the MacBook Pro with Retina Display makes it a good choice over the MacBook Air line.
