Sony labels Bloodborne, their next PS4 exclusive title as 'invaluable' for the system. It is one of the few highly anticipated PS4 exclusives to date and Sony is excited to see the reception of their multi-million strong fan base to their new Souls genre title. Set for release on March 24, Sony pins its hopes on Bloodborne to carry the PS4 flag long enough until Uncharted 4 arrives next year.
Upon release, Bloodborne will be the second triple A, exclusive game for the PS4 this year, the Order: 1886 being the first. Sony formerly relied on the Order: 1886 to carry the PS4 banner, but mixed reviews and unremarkable feedback coming from fans and critics led them to set their eyes on Bloodborne. Sony relies even more on the success of Bloodborne because Uncharted 4, one of the highly anticipated PS titles, will not be released this year as expected.
Bloodborne is the latest addition to the new 'souls' genre, initiated with the release of Dark souls. Though many gamers seemingly regard Bloodborne as a Dark souls incarnate, the feel, atmosphere and some aspects of its gameplay are indeed original. The game as reported by Gamespot, offers co-op multiplayer modes, a chalice dungeon feature, which 'procedurally created challenges' and a unique system where being offensive in combat helps regenerate health points.
According to a Youtube Channel, Open world games, the game has 40+ hours of gameplay, which is dependent on the skill of the player. The game is said to be harder and larger in scope compared to previous titles in the souls genre, namely Dark souls. It is an ambitious ensemble of winning ideas coming from various souls genre titles and Sony is hoping to receive favourable feedbacks after its release.
Bloodborne is important for Sony as they need a rallying point, a standard bearer to hoist the brand's flag through 2015. The Order: 1886 was supposed to lead the charge, but poor reviews and negative feedback quickly killed off Sony's first liner. Bloodborne must succeed because if it fails, Sony will most likely hide under its dark shadow well until next year.
