With the "Bomberman" franchise now dormant after years of providing quality entertainment to gamers of all ages, a new title aims to capitalize on the void left by the explosive exploits of the former fan favorite. Nerve Software's own "Burnstar" is the spiritual successor to the game which delighted countless players of the previous generation.
In "Burnstar," players blow up objects populating the individual levels to uncover and collect the number of stars necessary before they are able to move forward, according to Kotaku. The game is not that simple however, as there are several elements added to the gameplay to ensure a more nuanced, engaging, and enjoyable experience as the players continue to go forward.
Different colored boxes in the game react differently to the fire and also factor into how the flames may spread. Enemies are also found throughout all the levels and some of them are designed to blend into the scenery to surprise the players as they navigate through the maps. Also found in the levels are obstacles of different kinds such as cannons, jumping pads, and spinning blades.
There are also the level bosses who chase down the players as they struggle to set bombs in just the right so as to maximize their power.
"Burnstar" also allows players to choose from four different playable characters. Each character possesses unique abilities to give the players varied experiences every time they pick up and play the game, according to Indiedb.
Local co-op is also provided for every level for players looking to share the experiences they have with the game. With over 60 levels currently available, players will have a ton of obstacles and enemies to navigate through if they want to access all the hidden goodies the game has in store.
"Burnstar" is currently available for $10, according to Guide Live.
