Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty, a remake of the original Oddworld game, is scheduled for release on Xbox One on March 27, Oddworld Inhabitants have confirmed.
Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty will be released via the ID@Xbox self-publishing program where players will see the main game character Abe make an Xbox One debut. This launch is also the first Oddworld game on Xbox since Stranger's Wrath in 2005 from game developer, Just Add Water.
The game is remade from ground up of the 1997 classic Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee with improved graphics and enhanced audio. The development team only includes minimal changes to the well-received gameplay, Attack of the Fanboy reported.
The game is best described as a cinematic platform adventure title that follows the journey of the hero of the day Abe, a simple Mudokon, who discovers what really happens behind the scenes at the meat factory where he works. At the start of the game, Abe discovers that he and his Mukokon co-workers are to be on the menu soon. Abe's journey begins escaping from RuptureFarms and saving lots of his fellow workers.
Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty first released in 1997 on PlayStation 1 and PC and the remake version originally launched last July on PlayStation 4 and revealed a few weeks ago that PC. PS3, Vita and Wii U versions are also in the works.
"What really stands out about Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! is the sheer coherency of the original design. It was startling back in 1997 and it's still just as startling in 2014," Chris Donlan wrote in Eurogamer's glowing Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! review.
Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty was released on PC Platforms and Oddworld Inhabitants has already shipped out first patch 1.01 on Steam to fix the several issues that cropped up in the PC version's initial release. including some boot problem.
Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty release will be available for download at the Xbox One Games Store on March 27 for $19.99, €19.99 and £14.99.
