Windows 10 OS Updates: Windows 10 to Come With Awesome Features But Is It Really Free For All?

By

Previously, Microsoft announced that they will be giving customers who are using Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 operating systems with a free Windows 10 OS upgrade. But now, Microsoft has made clear of the upgrade paths of Windows 10 through a document released last Thursday during its WinHec conference held in Shenzhen, China. Customers will only have the possibility of getting a Windows 10 upgrade if they were able to keep their machines updated, according to reports by WSJ.D.

Reports further stated that if a person owns a computer that runs the most current update of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, he will be able to download Windows 10 upon its release later this year. Those who are still using Windows 8 will need to have it upgraded to Windows 8.1 or install the new OS either from a disc or a USB drive. And for those who are still using a first- or second-generation Surface RT tablet or any tablet that runs Windows RT, they will not be able to have the Windows 10 upgrade.

It could also be recalled that Microsoft revealed that regardless if the OS is genuine or pirated, it would still be upgraded into Windows 10. However, reports by ZD Net stated that the latest statement release from Microsoft seemed to have a "chock-full of qualifiers". The report further mentioned some odd statements from Microsoft that could be "an unwelcome surprise for business users later this year" and could mean an "another round of confusing licensing questions".

Microsoft reportedly said, "With Windows 10, although non-Genuine PCs may be able to upgrade to Windows 10, the upgrade will not change the genuine state of the license. Non-Genuine Windows is not published by Microsoft. It is not properly licensed, or supported by Microsoft or a trusted partner. If a device was considered non-genuine or mislicensed prior to the upgrade, that device will continue to be considered non-genuine or mislicensed after the upgrade," as cited by ZD Net.

Meanwhile, reports by PC PRO revealed that Windows 10 is set to be released in Summer 2015 coming with awesome features such as Windows Holographic and HoloLens, virtual assistant Cortana, Spartan Browser, Xbox App and DirectX 12, OneDrive, Surface Hub, Continuum, a Start Menu, and various multitasking tools.
