"Castle" Season 7 is nearing its end and with a lot of uncertainties surrounding its renewal for Season 8, Seamus Dever opened up and demanded for answers from the network.
"Nobody's talked to me about Season 8, so that's where I'm standing. And I'd like some answers, because my mother-in-law is very concerned that I'm going to have to get a teaching job," joked Dever to TV Line.
Dever, who plays Detective Kevin Ryan on the show, admitted that while TV executives have not yet confirmed whether or not "Castle" will be renewed for season 8, "there's no indication that we're going to go anywhere."
Dever added that he has always been confident of the show with its strong ratings. He even admitted that he was amazed at "Empire's" 18-34 demo.
He also revealed that the delayed renewals are not because of the "lack of want at the network level." He insisted that the network executives are in fact very pleased with the success of their show. He said that it all boils down to "getting everybody back to the table."
The show's executive producer, David Amann also admitted to TV.com that as much as they are hopeful for the show's future, their main focus is on giving the audience the "best end of the season."
TV Guide reported that one of the reasons why the show has not yet been signed on for season 8 is because Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic have yet to sign on new contracts with the network.
Dever's contract is also up for a renewal and he said, "It's been weird. The last five months have been limbo."
Meanwhile, season 7 finale spoilers tease fans of an episode that focuses on the Beckett and Castle mythology.
Amann told TV Line that the final episode will be "buoyant, classic episode" that will focus on the Beckett mythology, which left many fans hanging in its previous season finale.
