After having a close battle in the charts last week, Madonna's ‘Rebel heart was defeated by Empire Soundtrack. It's now officially the number 1 song in the U.S. According to Billboard, this is the first time since 2010 that a soundtrack from a TV show came on top of the top 200 list. Also, this is the first loss of the pop singer since 1998.
Last week, the Empire soundtrack boosted an earning of 130,000 units of album sold compares to Madonna that has only 121,000 units. Earlier, Madonna's song had a smooth road and it's became rocky when shockingly, Empire's boosting ahead and playing head-to-head with ‘Rebel Heart.'
Now, Empire's unstoppable and is becoming more famous. In an interview, Taraji Henson was shocked over the achievement. "Who saw this coming?" she said. But eventually she stated, "I need a GRAMMY." The song was also starred by Estelle, Courtney Love, Rita Ora, Mary J. Blige and Jennifer Hudson.
Even if Madonna is not in her 20's, she still managed to have a spot on top. A BBC 1 head programmer believed that it's not all about the age but it's more on how you connect to your audience and that's what Madonna did. "We've got to concentrate on people aged 15-30. We have to bring our average age down. That's something we're very conscious of. The vast majority of people who like Madonna, who like her music now, are over 30 and frankly, we've moved on from Madonna. Whilst around 40 percent of the country's 15- to 29-year-olds tune into Radio 1 each week, an artist's age is never a factor," he said.
Meanwhile, Madonna revealed on UsWeekly that she has not been with or never seen US President Barrack Obama. "Well, I've never met Obama. He probably thinks I'm too shocking to be invited to the White House. If I was a little bit more demure, if I was just married to Jay Z," she said.
