As the chasing game on Castle season 7 continues, it's guessing time for fate of season 8 ABC's mystery show. Up to now, there's no solid foundation if there are plans for new adventures for Richard Castle and his partner in crime Kate Beckett. According to some reports, it's because lead stars Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic are not renewing their contracts yet. Are they done or is it because of show's alleged ratings?
In an interview with TV Guide, Castle's boss David Amman is positive that there's more for the their police procedural series, but he's also realistic that he wants to focus more on season 7. After
"We're hopeful that everything gets resolved. In the meantime, we're just building the best end of the season that we can. Obviously, we've thought about a bunch of different scenarios, but our main obligation is to our audience and to deliver great shows. That's what we'll be trying to do, and we think we have a bunch of them lined up all the way to the end," Amman said.
Detective Kevin Ryan actor Seamus Dever was also unsure when he was asked about what's next for his series. The 38-year-old star added that no one talked about Castle's eight season and even his family asked him if he still has a job, but as of now it is up in the air.
"No. I'm dying to know. My mother's dying to know. She's wondering if I'm going to have to go back to the teaching. It's one of those things that we're all...it's on everyone's mind. The crew asks us every day, Have you heard anything? Have you heard anything? I'm not privy to any secrets. I wish I could tell you one way or the other because it would be nice for a little peace of mind that we're going to be continuing." Dever said on tvfanatic.com.
"I think the word is out there that the network wants us and certainly our ratings have been good. You know, you don't cancel shows that have these strong numbers still after the seventh year. I think the network values us and now it's just a question of talking about it and to this point to be honest nobody's talked to me about it at all. I'm waiting to hear."
"From what I'm hearing, [the delayed renewal] is not from lack of want at the network level. They're very happy with the success of our show; it's just about getting everybody back to the table," Dever said on TV.com.
As for Katic, there are no confirmed details whether she's going to reprise her role or there's new contract for her to sign. However in her filed interview with TV Line, it seemed that the 36-year-old Canadian-American actress was fine if show will end.
"If the character is complete, if there is nowhere else to go creatively, then I think it's better to stop when you're on top, because I admire the way that they did that with 'The Wire,' you know?" Katic shared with TV Line.
