Apple's 13-inch MacBook Pro 2015 update is all good on the surface, but iFixit finds something bothering about the refreshed device especially on repairability of the Force Touch Trackpad.

iFixit gave the updated MacBook Pro 2015 a score of 1 out of 10 repairability score after conducting it's teardown review of the device's internal components. other proprietary The reviewer arrived at this score due to this finding: "gluey mess of a battery, soldered RAM, and the battery covers the screws holding the trackpad in place, meaning it's impossible to replace the trackpad without first removing the battery."

The teardown reviewer also provides a rundown of the device's internal components, including those Apple did not mention. The reviewer discovered a couple of chips used in the trackpad, namely an ST Microelectronics 32F103 ARM Cortex-M based microcontroller and a Broadcom BCM5976 touch digitizer.

For the internal components found on the device, here are what the reviewer had enumerated from its teardown review post: SK Hynix H9CCNNNBLTALAR LPDDR-SDRAM, SK Hynix H5TC4G63AFR 4 Gb (512 MB) DDR3 SDRAM, Cirrus 4208-CRZ HD audio codec, Intel DSL5520 Thunderbolt 2 controller, and Broadcomm BCM15700A2.

For Texas Instruments, there's the TI 58872D, LM4FS1EH SMC controller, and HD3SS213 DisplayPort differential switch. For Samsung products, there are the S4LN058A01 PCIe 3.0 x4 AHCI flash controllers, K4E4E324ED 512 MB LPDDR3 DRAM, and the K9LDGY8S1D-XCK0 16 GB flash storage.

Other internal components of the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro 2015 update include Fairchild Semiconductor DE46SY, Genesys Logic GL3219 SDXC card reader controller, NXP Semiconductors PCA9501 8-bit I/O expander, and Parade Technology PS8401A HDMI jitter cleaning repeater.

Apple has also announced its free repair services to 2011-2013 MacBook Pro models, especially those with video issues. These MacBook Pro models include the 15-inch MacBook Pro models from early to late 2011, 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro released in mid-2012, as well as the 17-inch MacBook Pro models released from early to late 2011, and the 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro model released in early 2013.
