LG G4 Release Date: Stylus-Equipped LTE Android 5.0 Phone Shuns Metal and Goes Plastic; Specs Revealed

By

Initial reports indicating that the latest smartphone offering of LG, the LG G4, will be a metallic phone proves to be false.

According to reports, the company has not plans to veer away from the plastic design of the flagship's predecessor, especially since it apparently encuntered issues with the metal design as well as its manufacturing.

The latest reaction from the online community and observers have been pretty positive on this, though, considering the design really does look appealing.

Nonetheless, with a rumored US$745 price tag, it is expected to carry the best specifications.

The LG G4 is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, with a 3GB RAM running the core and apps of its Android 5.0 (Lollipop) OS.

The Snapdragon 810's heating issues apparently have been addressed by the Korean tech giant, so there's no need to worry about any potential safety hazard or performance issues.

This LTE-ready smartphone also has an internal memory of either 32GB or 64GB which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD. It comes with a 16MP main camera and a 5MP secondary camera, backed by a 5.3-inch QHD 1440 x 2560 LCD.

A 3,500 mAH will provide power to this smartphone unit. It will use a nano-sim, and will come with a stylus as well.

The LG G4 is 148.9 x 76.5 x 9.9mm in dimension, comes in black and has a curved back design with a large camera lens cover.

"We are aiming to become the world's third-largest smartphone manufacturer this year in terms of annual sales. LG Electronics will be aggressive in promoting the G4 in major target markets such as Korea and the US, LG Mobile Electronics CEO Cho Juno said to the Korean Times.

"I believe our G4 will also be good. With higher expectations, LG put huge resources into the LG G4, the chief executive added.

Right now, LG's target to become the third player in the smartphone market is held by Chinese phone maker Xiaomi.

The LG G4 smartphone is set to to be released by mid or late April.

While the South Korean phone manufacturer was expected to release its latest flagship phone unit by Q3 2015, the Korean Times says it has confirmed the smartphone's April release as per its sources. With Samsung's S6 released earlier this month, and Asus' Zenfone 2 expected to hit the market 25th of March, the newspaper's source may prove right since LG needs to join in on the fray.
