CD Projekt RED, the Polish game developer responsible for the development of the Witcher series, will release the Witcher 3: Wild hunt initially without DX12 support. The move is aimed to ensure all gamers, especially on the PC to enjoy the game immediately after its release this May.
Balazs Torok, Lead engine programmer for CD Projekt RED (CDPR) said to Gamingbolt that "there are plans for exploring different graphics APIs post-launch." He further said that they are at the moment, "...concentrating on providing the best possible game for the majority of our players."
Torok points out that they are concerned that releasing the game on the latest graphics APIs will deny most fans the chance to fully experience this new game. It shows how CDPR nurtures their fan base by making sure to appeal to them first rather than show off new graphic advances that are only playable on high-end machines.
Though CDPR admit that turning to latest APIs would considerably boost game performance, allowing more gamers to enjoy the game is their foremost concern.
Witcher 3: wild hunt continues to explore new ways to improve the franchise. Subtle improvements in the new title like beard growing on the protagonist's face can add a whole new dimension to the game.
The franchise revolves on the story of Geralt of Rivia and his exploits of being a Witcher, a genetically-enhanced human with special powers. The Witcher and the Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings are well-received in the gaming world and quickly became among the best titles for the action-RPG genre.
The Witcher 3: Wild hunt is set for release on May 15 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC and many fans are already excited to once again immerse themselves into the Witcher lore. With big games already out like Bloodborne and Dragon Age: Inquisition, the Witcher 3 must have exceptional plot, story and style to attract gamers outside its circle of fans.
