Apple will be releasing three iPhones in the second half of the year: the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, and iPhone 6C. All three will have LTSP panels, NFC, and fingerprint scanning technologies. A review between Periscope and Meerkat for iPhones shows Periscope to be better. The iPad Mini 4 is also rumored to be released this year, coming with an A8X processor, and thinner design similar to iPad Air.
In the second half of this year, reports have surfaced that Apple is going to release as many as 3 iPhones: the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, and iPhone 6C. The iPhone 6C will come out as a 4-inch size device. Industry sources cited by Digi Times reportedly said that that the three smartphones will be sporting LTPS panels.
Further, Japan and LG Display will be supplying for the three smartphones and Sharp Display will only be supplying for iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone 6C. The three upcoming iPhones will also be built with Corning Gorilla Class and both 6S and 6S Plus will be using A9 chips, while the 6C will come with A8 chips. All three iPhones will also include NFC and fingerprint scanning technologies.
As for the manufacturing, Wistron will be making the iPhone 6C and iPhones 6S and 6Plus are expected to be assembled by Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) and Pegatron.
Speaking of iPhones, CNET has recently released a review between two live-video applications: Persicope and Meerket. Both of these apps allow users to view live video broadcasts or streams from an iPhone.
In terms of broadcasting interface, Periscope is in the advantage since it shows you "three featured live videos streaming now, and then a list of other live streams from both people you follow and people you don't." While with Meerkat, when you launch and no one is broadcasting, you have to start your own broadcast since there is nothing to do.
For GPS location, Periscope enables the broadcaster to include their location with the arrow icon showing where it is coming from while Meerkat doesn't have GPS. In terms of privacy, Periscope allows you to choose the option to invite specific people to view your broadcast without being seen by others. But with Meerkat, everyone will be notified.
Periscope allows you to catch up with recent streams and watch saved videos if ever you missed a broadcast. However, comments and interactions are not allowed for saved streams. With Meerkat though, it will be gone forever once missed and can't be viewed by you or the people who follow you.
So, which is better?
CNET states, "Right now, Periscope has a clear lead that makes streaming video much more accessible. In other words, if Meerkat stays the way it is, it won't last long." Meanwhile, many are now asking about the release date of the new iPad mini.
Reports by Macworld UK said that it could be possible that the iPad mini 4 would be released this October, mentioning the iPad mini release patterns that Apple has made since November 2012.
But other reports suggest that it could be possible for Apple to have the iPad mini 4 released either in April or June this year together with the newest iPad Pro, since a WWDC 2015 event is coming by June. Hence, it could be possible for Apple to use that event to reveal the iPad mini 4.
Further, it could be also possible that the iPad Mini 4 won't be released this year because the iPhone 6 Plus is Apple's first release of a phablet device in the market and that they reportedly want to keep the focus first on their new iPhones.
In terms of specifications, rumors reportedly suggest that the iPad mini 4 will have an A8X processor, with a thinner design similar to the latest iPad Air. But last March 2015, it was also rumored that the iPad mini 4 could possible come with an A9 processor, 2 GB RAM, 802.11ac WiFi. When the iPad mini 4 comes out, reports suggest that Apple will stop producing the original iPad mini and the iPad mini 3, keeping only the iPad mini 2.
Nevertheless, official announcement is yet to be released by Apple about iPad Mini 4. Hopefully, soon.
