Tekken 7 Update: New Characters Revealed—Josie Rizal of Philippines, Jin Kazama and Devil Jin Come Back

By

As Bandai Namco promised previously, it has officially revealed the names of Tekken 7's new characters following the images surfacing first online. Jin Kazama comes back with his alter ego Devil Jin and Josie Rizal hails from the Philippines, the first time the country has been represented.

Even without plummeting the new title for the installment yet, Tekken 7 director Katsuhiro Harada has just confirmed the images mined online via a live stream. Jin Kazama and Devil Jin appeared in Tekken 3, 4, 5, 6, Dark Resurrection, and 3D: Prime Edition. He was ditched from Tekken Tag Tournament's set of 20 fighters. Jin left the title still battling to get away from the Devil inside him. In the current title, Jin is revealed to be the secret boss.

Josie Rizal, meanwhile, is a totally new character in the pool. She is a kickboxer who is also skillful with the Eskrima technique. Created by Mari Shimazaki, the character designer of Kazumi Mishima, Josie wears a gold dress and a blue skirt with gladiator sandals. She also sports gold earrings, a red headband and bracelets. Josie's conceptual design was consulted by Mad Catz's Mark Julio who has Filipino roots. Julio shared the Filipino culture and advice that fashioned many of the character's features.

Jin will officially be reinstated on March 31while Devil Jin on April 7. Josie, however, will join the roster "soon."

Since December 2014, the team behind the Tekken's next title added four new characters who completed a pool of 20 characters in the fighter game. Harada recently promised in an interview that new personalities will come as the game progresses with updates.

Shaheen is the first Arabian character who hails from Saudi Arabia. Katarina Alves comes from Brazil and is the second female Brazilian fighter in the game. Claudio Serafino is also the first Italian character. Lucky Chloe's nationality remains secret for now.
