Simon Pegg revealed that main plot of the upcoming movie "Star Trek 3"will be about "frontierism", "adventure", and "optimism." Pegg who will be playing the dual role of being the cast member and the writer of "Star Trek 3" said the movie will take the franchise forward "with the spirit of the TV show."
According to a report by ComicBookResources, Simon Pegg who will play the role of Scotty, the chief of engineering aboard the USS Enterprise, spoke about the upcoming movie and his writing career during the press roundtable for the movie "Kill Me Three Times."
Pegg also revealed that J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk wanted to "restart the process" to imbibe the spirit of the TV show to the movie. Pegg said that Bryan Burk offered the writing position to the actor on the set of the "Mission Impossible 5" movie.
The "Star Trek" franchise's main theme has always been to "boldly go where no man has gone before." And according to Pegg, who is currently rewriting the script, the "Star trek 3" will definitely stick to this essence.
Simon Pegg admitted that he was reluctant to take up the writing position because it would be "too much pressure" since the movie franchise is also known for its huge fan base worldwide. "It's enormous pressure. I'm barely able to speak right now I'm so terrified," he said. "We'll just keep plugging away at it, and hopefully come up with something that the fans like - everybody likes, not just the fans."
"Star Trek" has been around since the 1960s, when the first season of the TV series was released.
Simon Pegg will appear next in the Tom Cruise starrer "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation." "Star Trek 3" is slated to be released on July 8, 2016 in the U.S. Some of the cast members who will be reprising their roles in the Sci-Fi movie are Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Karl Urban and Anton Yelchin.
Meanwhile, Pegg shot down rumors that Idris Elba will be a Klingon in "Star Trek 3". In an interview with Absolute Radio, Pegg said "That's not true...I head there's a rumor he's been spoken to about stuff, so he may be in the film, but he won't be a Klingon."
"Star Trek 3" will hit theatres on July 8, 2016.
