Vanessa Hudgens Speaks Up About Past Relationship With Zac Efron

Vanessa Hudgens talks about her past relationship with Zac Efron, revealing that she had been a really 'mean' person back then. The former Disney teen star told the New York Times: "I went through a phase when I was really mean because I was so fed up."

Hudgens and Efron hit it of on the set of the hit Disney 'High School Musical' franchise, where the twosome starred as athlete Troy Bolton and wallflower school nerd, Grabiella Montez. The pair both rose to immediate fame following their roles. Pretty soon, Hudgens got annoyed by the excessive obsessing of fans over her beau.

"Girls were running after him, and I was giving them death stares. Then I realised that's not what that's about," the 26-year-old actress said. Their relationship had been really high profile, and it appears that it took its toll. While jealousy over so many girls pining for her boyfriend admittedly made her very upset, Hudgens soon realized that it wasn't all that bad. Her status as Zac Efron's real life girlfriend made millions of fans want to be her, if they did not hate her.

The couple split in 2010, after a good five years of dating. Since then, Efron had dated famous names in the industry, such as the Mortal Instruments starlet Lily Collins and Fast & Furious star Michelle Rodriguez.

The 27-year-old also subtly referred to Hudgens while promoting his movie, 'That Awkward Moment', around January last year. The actor revealed intimate details about his sex life, his preferences, and the dealbreaker for a relationship: being forced to sit through the chick flick, 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants'.

Hudgens, on the other hand, began dating Austin Butler, and the couple remained strong up to the present day. The actress is grateful to her current beau for renewing her Christian faith, and they had been living together for a while now. She is currently busy with her titular role in a new Broadway musical, 'Gigi'.
