Warner Bros. Pictures has just released another trailer for the upcoming post-apocalyptic action film, Mad Max: Fury Road. The film is the latest incarnation for the franchise in a span of almost 30 years, with Australian George Miller still in the helm as director, producer and co-writer.
From the earlier onset of the YouTube video footage, a dodging "Mad" Max Rockatansky played now by actor Tom Hardy is being pursued by a group of muscled henchmen. Mad Max's wrists are bounded and the lower part of his face is covered with a mask as he zigzags his way into a dizzying labyrinth seeking out that slim chance of escape. A voice-over of the protagonist simultaneously takes heed with an unsettlingly recognition that, ""In this wasteland I am the one who runs from both the living and the dead. A man reduced to a single entity. Survive."
The promo also presented an overlord with a penchant for young barely-dressed women, which are held captive against their will and are a part of a "harem". The English model, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley plays one of these slave maidens, who lead a daring escape only for them to be chased by bug-eyed goons in the trailer.
Fans of this road wasteland movie, despite the earlier trailers and the Thunderdome flashback are still left in the dark as to the relationship between this new Tom Hardy "Mad Max" and the original character portrayed by Mel Gibson in 1979. The past video though presented a harrowing premise that in the universe created by Miller, the transparent fluid known as water and slave trading have become major commodities in this barren landscape. However, another lucid picture of the narrative had been grasped, especially with the character of Charlize Theron (Imperator Furiosa), who tags along with the help of Mad Max as they cross the desert.
Miller who has been involved in a wide variety of award-winning projects such as Babe and Happy Feet will have his fourth "Mad Max" film in theaters on May 15, 2015.
