Android 5.1 L Roll-out Brings Nexus 5 Connectivity Issues: Fixes, New Features including HD and Device Protection Unveiled

By

Google had begun the roll-out of its Android 5.1 Lollipop update to the various mobile devices that are powered by Android. The roll-out had begun earlier this March. The Android 5.1 Lollipop update roll-out aims to improve the stability and performance of the device. It also offers fixes and new features that support multiple Sim Cards, device protection, and HD (high definition) voice on compatible phones.

However, this may not be the case when it comes to Nexus phones. Yes it did fix some old bug issues, but it brought with it its own set of problems. Lots of feedbacks regarding the problems brought by the 5.1 lollipop update have been plaguing the web. The following are some of the problems encountered by Nexus users.

Connectivity Issues

It has been a given fact that some Nexus 5 users have been experiencing random restarts since January. But recently through the Android 5.1 Lollipop update, other Nexus 5 users are experiencing intermittent data connection. In a post in product forums, a Nexus 5 user had complained about this issue. The user had expressed that the device would sometimes not connect. The user had to restart the device or turn on Airplane mode.

However, there are some fixes that may be applied to these kinds of issues. Here are some of the solutions provided by the product forums.

1. Restart your mobile.

2. Turn off your phone and remove the sim card then re-insert. Check your phone to test the connection.

3. Turn on your device in safe mode to check if there are apps that might be causing the problem.

4. Check the APN or the Access Point Name settings. The APN might be set incorrectly. If there are issues regarding the set-up, try to check for the APN setting that is compatible for your mobile.

5. If the connectivity issues still continue, remove the sim and clean it with a contact solvent. Or if it still does not work, request a replacement sim from your mobile provider.

Users need to take note that not all Nexus 5 users have connectivity issues. And if you are still having apprehensions regarding the Android 5.1 lollipop update, you still have the option whether to install the update or not.
