After teasing fans about "Deadpool's" rating, actor Ryan Reynolds confirms that his upcoming movie has officially been given an R rating. Meanwhile, "Deadpool" creator Rob Liefeld promises fans a cinematic comic book experience like no other.

On April 1, reports circulated online that "Deadpool" was given a PG-13 rating. However, it turned out that it was only a gag for April Fool's Day as Ryan Reynolds made an appearance as Deadpool on Extra during a video interview with Mario Lopez to confirm that the movie will be rated R.

Reynolds also took to Twitter to announce the rating. Reynolds tweeted, "February 12th. There will be blood. Guns. F-bombs. And graphic, expertly lit French Unicorn sex." Deadpool comic book creator Rob Liefeld, on the other hand, expressed his faith in Reynolds, Director Tim Miller, and scriptwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

Liefeld visited the set of "Deadpool" and posted a picture of him with Ryan Reynolds on Instagram. He wrote, "congrats to Team Deadpool on each and every victory along the Deadpool highway! The R rating ensures the film will be unique and faithful to the amazing vision of the filmakers Tim Miller Tim Miller, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and Ryan freakin' Reynolds."

He added that based on what he saw and heard, "fans will have cinematic comic book experience unlike any you have experienced. Deadpool is all that you've been waiting for." Liefeld also said that after "Wolverine: Origins", there have been plans to make a Deadpool movie, but it was only until now that the movie was given a green light.

Deadpool a.k.a Wade Wilson is Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero. "Deadpool" tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Deadpool is set for release on February 12 2016, with Reynolds reprising the role of Deadpool alongside T.J. Miller as Weasel, Morena Baccarin (Gotham) as Copycat, Gina Carano (Fast & Furious 6) as Angel Dust, newcomer Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Ed Skrein (Game of Thrones) in an as-yet-unrevealed role.
