A video posted by Windows Blog Italia showed a Microsoft OS running in an Android smartphone. It was spotted by various tech websites recently. The video showed a Xiaomi Mi4 running a Windows 10 OS.
Previous reports have revealed Microsoft's plans to release a Windows 10 ROM that will enable Android phone owners to install the software in their devices. Further, the company has also announced that they will form a partnership with Xiaomi to bring Windows 10 OS in Xiaomi Mi4 smartphones. This made a lot of Mi fans confused. So to clarify things up, Xiaomi Global VP Hugo Barra released a statement, saying that it was "an experimental program led by Microsoft." He also said that the Microsoft will work direcly with the Mi subscribers.
He clarified that Microsoft is developing a Windows 10 OS made specifically for Mi 4 devices. It The Windows 10 OS "will not be running on top of Android nor be available as a dual-boot option." It is also worth mentioning that this is only for China users. It seems then that both companies are now taking into effect of the partnership they previously made.
Geeky Gadgets cited Windows Blog Italia that it posted a video showing the Windows 10 OS running a Xiaomi Mi4. Neowin observed that "the Windows 10 build installed on the Mi4 responds to inputs from the handset's Android hardware buttons, indicating that those buttons have been remapped to interact with the Windows OS."
It is not only the Xiaomi Mi4 that is going to run a Windows 10 OS. Previous reports have said that the ZTE Nubia Z9 will also be running Windows 10. However, there has not been any video that strongly shows the collaboration of the two companies as of this moment.
It seems that Microsoft is upping its game. The company is also said to be pushing a unified experience across platforms with their latest Windows 10 OS. This basically means that smartphones, tablets, PCs, laptops, and their Xbox One gaming console will have one OS: Windows 10.
