Primal Carnage: Extinction Will Use Unreal Engine 3 Mods to Bring Game to PS4

The dinosaur action game, Primal Carnage Extinction will eventually be brought to the PS4 as developing company, Circle5 reveals future plans after its PC release. Circle5 plans to use a modified version of the Unreal Engine 3 to bring the game to the Playstation.

This is a big decision coming from Circle5 as the Unreal engine is not supported by the PS4. It meant that a series of modifications had to be done to ensure it plays well on the targeted console.

Primal Carnage is a class based action game where gamers are can choose between two main teams in the game. The player can be a rampaging dinosaur bent on viciously killing people or take sides with humans doing their best to stave off a dinosaur invasion. The story is set on an island completely overrun by prehistoric creatures in a Jurassic park style. Aside from the established storyline, Primal Carnage Extinction will focus more on the multiplayer side of the game.

Aside from this, Circle5 aims on having 1080p/60fps visuals when the game is brought to PS4. Aaron Pollack said in an interview reported by Gamingbolt that

"We're running at 1080p and are aiming for a solid 60fps frame rate..."

This is to take advantage of the powerful hardware the PS4 brings. Though he showed his views that frame rates are more important as it ensure smooth gameplay.

"It's important that games have a stable, high frame rate so that gameplay appears smooth. Achieving a high framerate is really important to create a great user experience, and developers have to make trade-offs to achieve good looking games that are still performant."

Though some critics have pointed out that the game is virtually a 'remake' of the first, though its emphasis is in the multiplayer aspect of the game. The PC version is already released in Steam, while the PS4 version is still underway.
