In a recent meeting, the game developers of "Dragon's Dogma Online" revealed that the game would be running smoothly at 1080p 60fps on PS4. They clarified, however, that this would not be consistent within the game. Add to that, the game developers would be conducting an Alpha Test this month for PS3 gamers.
"Dragon's Dogma" Director Kent Kinoshita shared the details in one of their experienced meetings in Tokyo, Japan. Among those that were discussed in the meeting was the game speed; Kinoshita said that the game would run smoothly at 1080p 60fps on PS4, while it would run smoothly on 720p at 30fps on PS3, based on a report from Gamepur. However, Kinoshita cautioned that the game would not be locked at 60fps; added that there would be instances in the game that the FPS would vary.
The reason behind the switch on FPS was also explained by gaming enthusiasts. "While the game isn't a full-fledged MMORPG, city instances can include as many as 100 players at once. The number of characters displayed at once is unpredictable, and can become too large to achieve the target frame rate. Dips are to be expected when there's a crowd," based on a report from DualShockers.
Another interesting thing to note on the upcoming Dragon's Dogma Online would be its cross platform capability. Gamers would be able to play the PS4, PS3 and PC editions using the same servers. Apart from that, gamers would also be able to borrow and lend pawns among themselves, pretty much like in the "Dragon's Dogma."
Although "Dragon's Dogma Online" was able to grab attention in a meeting held in Tokyo, it was still unclear when the game would be released in North America. Then again, player could join that Alpha Test that would begin its participants' sign-up on April 07th, based on a report from Gematsu.
The names of those who got lucky on the sign-ups would be announced on April 15th. Meanwhile, the Alpha Test would be done on PS3 gaming consoles and would start from April 20 to 28; the results of the test would be announced on May 08th. A closed beta, which would run across PS4, PS3 and the PC would follow the Alpha Test.
