Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig's Coming Together For a Movie: Lifetim Leaks, Updates and More

By

Will the supposedly secret Lifetime movie of Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig get a chance to push through? While Ferrell initially said he and Wiig have decided "to forego the project entirely," Lifetime is still said to be "determining the fate of the movie," suggesting that it might not have been totally scrapped after all.

It can be recalled that the said project caught media's attention last week after the Hollywood Reporter revealed on April 1 that Ferrell and Wiig had teamed up for a top secret movie for Lifetime entitled A Deadly Adoption. It's a dramatic thriller that was slated to premiere this summer in time for the network's 25th anniversary celebration, the publication stated.

The movie would feature the two stars playing a successful couple who would shelter a pregnant woman (played by 90210 actress Jessica Lowndes) with the hopes of adopting her unborn baby -- then things would immediately go awry, the Hollywood Reporter wrote.

The publication revealed that the two-hour TV movie had already been filmed and that Ferrell, who turned out to be a huge fan of the Lifetime movies, served as the executive producer along with Adam McKay of Gary Sanchez Productions. The news was initially thought to be just another April Fools' Day ruse, but the actor-comedian himself confirmed the project's existence shortly after the news was leaked.

On Thursday, Ferrell released a statement to EW, where he shared they "are deeply disappointed that our planned top secret project was made public." The 47-year-old actor said that he and fellow comedian Kristen have thought "it is in the best interest for everyone to forego the project entirely," while thanking "Lifetime and all the people who were ready to help us make this film."

Nevertheless, the project may not be forever shelved as Lifetime has not issued a clear verdict on what might happen with the movie, according to LA Times.

Michael Feeney, spokesman for Lifetime's corporate parent, A&E Networks, told the press Friday that they "are disappointed that our secret project with Will and Kristen was leaked." However, he did not clarify whether they will scrap the project totally, only adding that "the network is determining the fate of the movie."

Considering that Ferrell is said to have always wanted to make a Lifetime movie himself, he might give this project with Wiig another chance, perhaps? But then again, he can always make another parody movie with Wiig or other comedians, if he so chooses.

What do you think of Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig Lifetime project? Is it regrettable to simply let it go or not? Share your thoughts below!
