Kate Upton Reveals She Now Hates Social Media, Calls the Internet ‘So Horrible’

By

Kate Upton revealed she is now shying away from the Internet because it can be "so horrible," saying she finds today's social media no longer amazing and instead "kind of bulls--t."

In an interview with Net-a-Porter's online magazine The Edit, the blonde bombshell said that she "feels like social media at this point is kind of bulls-t," compared to how it was in the beginning when it was "amazing and a lot of fun."

"It was like, 'Cool, I can talk to my fans!' And now I think that we're losing the art of it," the 22-year-old model stated. "When I first joined Twitter it was just me, but [when] you've got contracts, it's so planned. Now it's about who has the best marketing, not who has a really good personality."

As a model and actress, Upton has had to deal with constant scrutiny by other people, which she said was "really hard" at first because she "actually cared what people thought." However, she has learned to turn a blind eye and stop reading people's comments about her, quipping that the only thing she does for others now is cook.

"I've heard people say, 'You put yourself in that position to be judge.' But no, I put myself in that position because I really liked that photographer. I wanted to do that piece of work. Not to be judged," the blonde beauty added. "The Internet can be horrible," she said, "so I just don't look at it anymore."

While Kate Upton's thoughts on today's social media may have changed, it can be said that the supermodel has greatly benefited from its power since she started her journey to stardom years ago. The blonde bombshell rose to fame after appearing as the cover girl of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2011. She gained further popularity when an online video of her doing the dougie hip-hop dance at a Los Angeles Clippers game went viral on Youtube. In 2012, another video of Upton performing the Cat Daddy dance also went viral, cementing her status as a rising star.

The curvaceous model, who shares an on-again, off-again relationship with Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander, currently has nearly two million followers on Twitter. Her Instagram.account also boasts of close to two million followers.
