Kristen Stewart may have been plagued by controversies in recent years but she seems to have accepted it as a normal part of being a celebrity. In a recent interview, the Twilight star shared her thoughts on her life as a Hollywood star, saying she has "taken so much shit" that she's "not gonna be let down."
Stewart, who will turn 25 on April 9, told the Hollywood Reporter: "I've taken so much shit that I'm just like, 'I'm not the winner!' I'm not gonna be let down when I don't get the pat on the back I'm totally used to the kick in the ass."
The actress has been the subject of media scrutiny throughout the years, but more especially during her Twilight days, when she was still dating co-star Robert Pattinson. It was just 2012 when Stewart found herself at the center of a huge media frenzy, when photos of her secret affair with her then-married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders surfaced online.
The controversy prompted her to issue a public apology to Pattinson at that time. While they seemed to have made up weeks after the incident, the pair eventually broke up shortly after the release of their last film, Breaking Dawn Part 2.
Now that the actor is reportedly engaged to musician FKA Twigs, the Still Alice actress seems to have moved on as well. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Stewart "was more together and impressive," and that "each time she seemed markedly more at peace with herself and her position in the public eye."
Reflecting on the struggles of someone usually in the spotlight, the actress admitted it has "taken serious adjusting time" but that "there's just nothing that I can really do about that."
"If you think about the source of it all, which is really the big, big, big green monster of cash, there's just no way that that's stopping," Stewart said. "It's a new industry - celebrity news is a whole new form of entertainment - and it's a huge, booming, f---ing money-making industry, so why would it stop?"
Despite the controversies and the nasty side of showbiz, she is determined to stay in the business. "I'm so satisfied and happy and absolutely looking forward to what's to come."
For now the actress seems to have moved on not just from her romance with Pattinson but also from her Twilight image. Stewart recently bagged the Best Supporting Actress award at the 40th Cesar Awards in France for her performance in Clouds of Sils Maria, where she played the role of an assistant to a movie star.
Aside from allowing her to be the first American actress to ever take home a Cesar, Clouds of Sils Maria also brought her some of the best reviews of her career, the Hollywood Reporter noted. The film, which premiered at Cannes in May 2015, will hit US theaters on April 10.
