‘Justice League: Gods and Monsters’ Update: ‘Darker’ origins revealed; Will ‘Batman vs Superman’ adopt same plot?

By

DC's bold decision to create "Justice League: Gods and Monsters" raised a lot of questions (and eyebrows) following the release of its trailer featuring "different" Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman in an alternate world. With an original storyline, will this new animated film affect "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice"?

Unlike the other DC animated films, "Justice League: Gods and Monsters" won't be based on any of the existing storyline from the comics. It was reported that its story will pick up from an alternate Earth where the Justice League is framed for the murders of prominent scientists. But the most interesting fact in the animated film is the different versions of the favorite DC heroes.

Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman will lead the Gods and Monsters. However, the Man of Steel in this film is actually the son of Zod so Clark Kent might totally be out of the picture. A more violent Superman is seen in the trailer, which could be a direct consequence of seeing the dark side of the world.

Bruce Wayne also won't appear in the alternate world. Kirk Langstrom aka Man-Bat will be this world's Batman. We know that in the original DC comics, Man-Bat used a serum to cure his deafness but became a monstrous, man-sized bat creature. In Gods and Monsters however, he injects the serum to himself to cure his cancer but turned into a vampire-esque Man-Bat. He is able to keep his sanity despite the error and decided to just feed off of criminals.

Wonder Woman on the other hand is not an Amazonian warrior princess in the movie. She is actually a New Gods who is married to Orion, another New God of Jack Kirby.

With the upcoming release of "Justice League: Gods and Monsters," is there a possibility that its original and not to mention different storyline affects "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice"? Will the darker versions of the iconic superheroes find their way to the other "Dawn of Justice" franchise?

The first trailer of "Justice League: Gods and Monsters" has been released and it looks like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are going to be different in this new animated film with an original plot produced by DC Animation. Slated to premiere ahead of "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice," expectations among the fans that the two highly-anticipated movies will be connected to each other are just inevitable.
