John Cena is not dead...but he had an epic black eye after successfully defending the WWE United States Championship title against behemoth Bulgarian wresler, Rusev during WWE's European Tour kick-off in Glasgow, Scotland.

A photo from TMZ showed the WWE superstar sporting a black eye while strolling the streats of Glasgow which clearly indicated that wrestling is real and lethal. According to reports, Cena, 36, got the black eye while grappling Rusev, also known as The Hero of the Russian Federation.

Duwing the match, John Cena, who seemed irritated by Rusev's theatrics in the ring, wasted no time once the bell rang, exploding out of the corner with a crushing smash. However, he was leveled by The Hero of the Russian Federation who immediately exploited the opening, raining down head butts, smashing blows, and massive throws on John Cena, before repressing him with a splash in the corner.

Fueled by American pride and unshaken by Rusev's crushing blows, John Cena, 36, came back, and dealt Rusev the Attitude Adjustment to retain the WWE United States Championship. This is Rusev's second consecutive loss to John Cena.

The leader of the Cenation gave Rusev his first taste of defeat since arriving in WWE when he captured the United States title on March 29 during WWE's "Wrestlemania 31" in Sta. Clara, California. This is the fourth WWE United States Championship for John Cena and his first after 10 years

Meanwhile, John Cena was honored by the city of Glasgow led by Deputy Lord Provost Gerry Leonard during his visit to the City Chambers. The meeting of Cena and Lord Provost Gerry Ronald kicked-off the WWE European tour which started in The Hydro on April 8.

Cena was greeted by three pipers and three drummers who lined the marble staircase leading to Deputy Lord Provost Leonard's private rooms. According to reports, the Deputy Lord Provost praised John Cena whom he dubbed as a "global hero." He said, "It's wonderful that an American superstar like John Cena took the time to drop into the City Chambers."

He also expressed his excitement that WWE picked Glasgow to launch its European Tour. Deputy Lord Provost Gerry Leonard also commented that the tickets were already sold out and rare. He said, "It's exciting for Glasgow to be launching the WWE European tour and I know everyone lucky enough to have tickets will be thrilled. They're like gold-dust-it's a sell-out." The WWE European tour coincides with Tartan Week in New York where Lord Provost Sadie Docherty is currently promoting Glasgow.

John Cena has won 23 championships, with a record 12 reigns as WWE World Heavyweight Champion-three as World Heavyweight Champion, four as WWE United States Champion and is a four-time world tag team champion.

Outside of wrestling, Cena has released the rap album "You Can't See Me", which debuted at number15 on the US Billboard 200 chart and starred in the feature films "The Marine" in 2006, "12 Rounds" in 2009 and "Legendary" in 2010.
