After featuring robotic tablets controlled by inmates, "Community" is set to do a parody about security systems in their next episode "Basic E-mail Security" slated to air on April 14. Creator Dan Harmon said that this episode will take on the legacy of South Park, an American adult animated comedy series. This will be the sixth episode of "Community" under Yahoo after NBC cancelled the show in 2014. Despite the budget cut, the TV Series continues to hold strong in the ratings.
In the fifth episode of "Community" entitled "Laws and Robotic Party Rights," we saw Jeff Winger's indifference towards his profession as a college professor. Willy, a prison inmate convicted for murder and also attending Jeff's class through a telerobot (an iPad on a stick!), did not like his professor's apathetic teaching strategies. The common teacher-student disparity ensued between the two which led Jeff into taking a sabbatical. Later on it was revealed that the murder-convicted student is actually trying to murder people again by pushing them down the stairs. So to say the least, it was one of those absurd episodes of Community about technology advancement.
The show's next episode "Basic E-mail Security" will also be about technology but will tend on its security/privacy issue. A report said that it will take on the legacy of American comedy television series South Park. With this, it is safe to assume that the sixth episode of "Community" will be inspired by South Park's "Insecurity" episode where the show tried to link the issue of infidelity and home invasion.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the "Laws of Robotics Party Rights" episode confirmed the significant budget cut that "Community" is currently facing as a repercussion of their transfer from NBC to Yahoo. Aside from its quirkiness, Community is popular for its budgeted productions evident in the episodes from previous seasons like "Modern Warfare", "A Fistful of Paintballs", "Pillows and Blankets", and "G.I. Jeff." The "Party Rights" episode almost implied that the show's humor is compensating for their lack of budget.
Be that as it may, the show's intelligent writing and the undeniable rapport between the cast, proves that "Community" is still a force to be reckoned with even though it received a budget cut. Their sixth episode entitled "Basic E-mail Security," which will tackle poor security systems and privacy issues will surely make a buzz among its growing cult following.
