The Xbox One's UI lag has become one of the priority fix list of Microsoft's game developing team today. Complaints of this apparent 'laggy' nature of the console's UI not only came from customers but also from higher ups in Microsoft.
Xbox's Phil Spencer said on a Twitter post reported by Technobuffalo, "Speeding up the UI is high on our list of improvements we want to make." Spencer indicates that fixing this UI problem is one of Microsoft's priorities at the moment along with other 'undisclosed' improvements that are included in Spencer's 'list of improvements.'
The introduction of OTA TV
Alongside the planned improvements on the console's UI, Xbox one will have 'over-the-air' TV, which practically turns an Xbox One machine into a cable network provider. Its features include as 'seamless' integration of TV watching with gaming.
It can also pick up TV channels available, watch TV while playing and also 'pause' live TV by caching30 minutes' worth of video, where the user can watch it later. This is a welcome improvement created by Microsoft specifically to Xbox One users.
Xbox One users can purchase the Hauppauge WinTV-955Q at Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy and Micro Center, with an included HDTV antenna
Other improvements Xbox One need coming from customers
The console battle between Xbox and Sony are gaining momentum as PS4 hardware is slowly being considered the better console in every way. Game critics and reviewers all agree that the PS4 console has the upper hand especially on graphics. In almost every instance, graphics are better in the PS4 as its resolution alone is higher compared to Xbox one. A Techradar post tells gamers, after a lengthy side-by-side comparison, that the PS4 has a clear advantage over the Xbox one.
Though it is still unlikely that Microsoft will succumb to Sony's strategy, but in the long run, especially when next gen consoles are released, Microsoft should learn from the shortcomings of the Xbox One and create a console that will beat Sony for a change.
