Since The Last of Us was first released two years ago, the sequel was then looked forward to. However, until this year, there has been no direct confirmation about the exact official release of the gameplay, not even a teaser to game features and even possible new character to join roster were announced from the game developer.
Recently, there were reports citing that the game will be featuring different characters to join cast in the game, namely Tommy, Tess, and Marlene. Based from the source, Tommy and Tess were the most probably interesting ones to join in the game. However, they might end up as the secondary characters though.
Talking about Marlene, she would be the best candidate as described as she "became the leader of the fireflies" and she got herself involved with the revolution when it took place.
Aside from the playable characters to join the game, there were also rumours that there won't be any The Last of Us 2 to happen this year or not even in the next few years.
Already predicted last year, the game director already said that there would 50-50 chances for the game to arrive.
Neil Druckmann from the Naughty Dog, revealed that there would be high doubts that the game will become a reality since the team are still undecided with the final plot or even the game design to follow for the second instalment of The Last of Us game.
He said, "We have started brainstorming some stuff. To be honest, some of them are sequel ideas, and some of them are brand new IP - we've spent the last few weeks brainstorming new IP. So we have to get some good steps and see ... It's kind of like how we approached Left Behind. Can we tell people a story that's really worth telling, and that's not repeating itself?
"And if we can't, where can we get inspired - what is something that's really going to challenge us, and push storytelling in this medium forward?" Druckmann added.
Thus, what the fans could guess is that there would be less chances that the gameplay will really be possible not unless if Naughty Dog will be pushing this sequel to its official development. Yet, as of now, The Last of Us 2 seemed to remain an idea as of the moment.
With the game mechanics, the avid fans could also expect that if the sequel will be in high assurance to happen sometime, it would be compatible for co-op mode because this would be one of the best features to include in the game upgrades like the other Naughty Dog's title "Uncharted 4."
If this will be possible, according to one review, it would be cool if it's for next generation consoles, PS4 and Xbox One.
To sum up, these claims aren't yet been confirmed by the game developer. Thus, the gamers should keep their selves updates for the incoming updates for the game's release. Perhaps, they might expect The Last of Us 2 this year or maybe not.
