The "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" sisters Kim Kardashian West and Khloe Kardashian, together with Kim's husband Kanye West and daughter North, flew to Armenia on Tuesday to explore and celebrate their ancestors' roots.
Kim, 34, and Khloe, 30, brought their cousins as well to their first ever visit to their father's homeland. The famous sisters were greeted by throngs of eager fans as soon as they arrived Wednesday night.
Kim Kardashian posted a picture of their chaotic arrival on Instagram, with a caption: "Armenia we are here! We are so grateful to be here & start this journey of a lifetime! Thank u everyone who greeted us! I can't wait to explore our country and have some yummy food!"
The Kardashians' ancestral tour has been in the works for a long time, reported People. "It's their first time and everyone is so excited!" a source close to the famous family told the publication.
Kim and Khloe rose up early Thursday to begin their sightseeing tour of the country's capital Yerevan before attending a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan. The Kardashians are reportedly in the country to create a documentary on the Armenian genocide, ahead of events later this month to commemorate the 100th year of the killings, according to The Guardian.
"The Kardashians apologised for not speaking Armenian but said they are learning their native language," a statement released by Armenian government read. "They pledged to continue the struggle for international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian genocide," it added.
The famous sisters were fawned over by large crowds of excited fans as they explored the stunning sights of the city. The two, together with their extended family members and cousins, hit a local park and ancient monuments of the city, according to Daily Mail.
Aside from snapping selfies with fans, Khloe and Kim Kardashian refused to talk to the press and instead took to social media to gush over the sights they're visiting. They walked the capital streets while being filmed by the crew of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." The Kardashians' tour will be featured on an upcoming episode of their hit TV reality show, "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" Season 10.
