Kate Upton calls Terry Richardson’s release of ‘Cat Daddy’ video ‘disrespectful’

Kate Upton's "Cat Daddy" video might have cemented her celebrity status when it went viral in 2012, but the model-actress has revealed she was less than pleased when famed celebrity photographer Terry Richardson uploaded it online back then for everyone to see.

The brief video, where the 19-year-old swimsuit model was seen demonstrating the "Cat Daddy" dance in a barely-there red bikini, quickly generated millions of hits after Richardson posted it on Youtube in 2012. Upton, now 22, admitted during an interview for British Vogue that she got mad after learning her video had gone viral.

When asked whether she had stood up to the renowned photographer because of it, Upton replied, "Yes, I did. I was like, 'That was disrespectful, you could have told me!'"

The voluptuous model was said to be horrified at that time because the video - which Richardson had filmed behind the scenes during their photo shoot - was just for fun and not something she expected would make the final cut, according to the magazine.

Yet, while her "Cat Daddy" clip has become one of her infamous videos, it has actually helped boost her global fame. After getting banned by Youtube for a brief period of time due to its supposed explicit nature, the video went on to generate over 22 million hits, according to Huffington Post.

This could explain why Upton did not remain angry at Richardson. "Now, obviously, it's fine," she said.

Indeed, it's the social media that propelled her to international stardom. Yet, it's the same medium that Upton revealed she's trying to keep away from nowadays. In a recent interview with The Edit, the blonde bombshell shared she "feels like social media at this point is kind of bulls-t," compared to how it was before, which was "amazing and a lot of fun."

Her increasing popularity has made her the subject of constant scrutiny by the public and the press. Upton said now she has learned to turn a blind eye and stop reading people's comments about her.

"I've heard people say, 'You put yourself in that position to be judge.' But no, I put myself in that position because I really liked that photographer. I wanted to do that piece of work. Not to be judged," the blonde beauty stated. "The Internet can be horrible," she added, "so I just don't look at it anymore."
