Fast & Furious 8 is making rounds on the net following the release of Furious 7, the latest of the Fast and Furious action franchise that earned an enthusiastic response from fans as soon as it opened. Now that has broken records in the box-office, grossing almost a billion dollars, everyone is wondering what is in the future of the film series.
The latest rumors suggest the possibility of an old character returning and planning an integral role as well as the promise of yet another trilogy to add to the series.
Eva Mendes who played U.S. Customs Agent Monica Fuentes in one of the film's sequels has been rumored to be returning to the film franchise and that the eighth installment needs her back for it to even work.
Vin Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto and produces the movies, said in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel that he always thought ahead with these movies, thinking of them in trilogies. He also said that the next movie would be set in New York. It is not news that Universal Chairman Donna Langley would like to have a total of ten movies and more recent sources say that this is still true.
Why not, right? Once a film earns in the near billions, another sequel is in order. Agent Fuentes can come back if the story really depends on her.
Whether or not that is true remains to be seen, however, since they have not started writing the eighth movie yet. With no writer and no director for the eighth movie, and producer Neal Moritz saying that they are currently basking in the glow of this box office win and that they will "probably get together in a week or so to talk", rumors of Mendes's return could prove to be false.
But that has never stopped fans from hoping.
While it is too early to confirm for the release of Fast & Furious 8, the Fast and Furious franchise is not slowing down now that they are the talk of the town but nothing has been confirmed except the possibility of more films to come.
