The latest teaser for True Detective Season 2 was recently released and show runners promise to offer an intense stroyline, stellar cast and a whole new season of mystery and drama.

True Detective Season 2 is much anticipated because the previous season is a smashing hit; in fact it got millions in America hooked that the seson's finale crashed HBO Go in March last year. Season 1 is soaked in mystery and keeps audience guessing to the last moment. It features the investigation of the death of a young woman by veteran Louisiana State Police detectives played by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as Rust Cohle and Marty Hart, respectively.

Recently, HBO releases the teaser for True Detective Season 2. The production began last November in the sunny coasts of California. According to the promotional video, season focuses on an uncanny murder that unites three police officers and a criminal together. All of them were entangled in a web of deceit, conspiracy and whodunit in a county in California. Detectives Cohle and Hart are no longer returning at Season 2 but a new line-up by calibre celebrities star the second season.

Colin Farrell is Ray Velcoro, a detective from the City of Vinci, LA County. Rachel McAdams is Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff's detective who struggles fiercely with the system she is in. Lastly, Vince Vaughn is Frank Semyon, a criminal and entrepreneur caught in the balance of losing his wife or his life's work. So far so good; but before the official trailer from HBO, several speculation on the second season's plot and storylines flood the web. One of these is the death of a certain city manager and how these detectives, in following where the trail leads them ends up uncovering a secret occult hidden beneath California's transportation system.

There is no better person to write the sequel's plot than the True Detective creator and Season One writer himself, Nic Pizzolatto. Moreover, unlike season 1 where Cary Fukunaga directed all 8 episodes, this season will be divided into several directors according to reports.

True Detective Season 2 premiers on June 21.
