Castle Season 7 wraps up in a few episodes and more than ever, fans of the acclaimed TV series are curious if the show is set to renew for Season 8.
Presently, the Castle plot revolves around the two-month disappearance of the show's protagonist. Castle teasers expose how both Castle and Beckett investigates his plight and the promotional video comes with a voiceover, "time to find out". Moreover, Castle is driven by a recurring dream that may be the answer behind his disappearance and spoilers indicate that there will be deadly consequences for both Castle and Beckett as they chase these leads.
Meawhile, Stana Katic who plays Beckett in Castle constantly posts updates and behind-the-scenes photos of the season finale shooting. From there, it was revealed that Director Paul Holahan directs the last episode written by series creator Andrew W. Marlowe and his wife Terri Edda Miller. This power trio is the creative head behind Castle and Beckett's wedding episode according to one source.
In this season's finale, show boss David Amann spoils in an interview that it will be a cliffhanger and features the return of the fake Jenkins. Following this cliffhanger ender, fans are hopeful that this is not the end of the line for this hit TV series. However, to date there are neither clear reports nor announcements from ABC on the filming of a new series or with the renewal of Stana Katic (Kate Beckett) and Nathan Fillion (Rick Castle). Katic hints in an interview on November last year regarding the possibility of renewing her contract for Castle.
"If the character is complete, if there is nowhere else to go creatively, then I think it's better to stop when you're on top, because I admire the way that they did that with 'The Wire,' you know?" she explains.
Nonetheless, industry sources are inclined to believe that a new season is not farfetched. ABC normally makes renewal announcements in the month of May for the past 3 years.
Castle season Finale airs on April 20.
