Nintendo Announces Splatoon Release Date: Multiplayer Mode Feature Confirmed, Plus New Ranked Battle Mode

Splatoon, one of Nintendo's most highly anticipated games, will finally be released In Europe this May 29 for Wii U console. New and exciting features are going to be launched as well. Splatoon's release date was confirmed during the Nintendo Direct broadcast which was held on January 14, 2015. Additionally, early impressions from game aficionados will leave gamers extremely excited for Nintendo Splatoon's launch.

Splatoon will be released as a vibrant arena shooter that replaces bullets with jets of paint. The intriguing action shooter game will feature a multiplayer mode that will include up to four players. The game is designed to be a a competitive and cooperative gaming experience. The gamers will have to team up and play as squid people while covering their opponents' arenas with a single color of paint while preventing the opposing team from doing the same.

The ink-spewing characters will be called Inklings. The goal again is to basically claim your team's territory while strategically dousing yourself in your team's colors and subsequently blasting your enemies, minus the violence.

The new Ranked Battle mode will allow gamers to rank and match players with other similarly-skilled players. A list of Splatoon Amiibos will also be on hand, including characters such as Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl and a special Inkling Squid that will only be offered to purchase in an limited Splatoon software bundle.

Some game enthusiasts however assumed that Splatoon will somehow become another Mario game. On the other hand, other critics were all keen to announce early positive impressions on the game stating that "Splatoon is exactly how you'd imagine a Nintendo-made competitive shooter would be: colorful, charming, and without any of the over-the-top violence and gore so common in other modern shooters," and that "Splatoon is a blast (pun intended) of good natured cheer in a genre that can sometimes take itself too seriously, and it certainly made a positive impression on me during my brief hands-on time at this year's E3."

Despite not having official US release date just yet, Nintendo has confirmed Splatoon to have an open-date 2015 official arrival.
