GTA V is here, after almost two years of setbacks, unfulfilled promises and delays, Rockstar's fifth installment of this legendary franchise finally came. The PC version of GTA V is currently one of the most anticipated pc releases this spring and many will be extremely satisfied when they get a copy of this epic game for themselves. But is buying the game on its first day of release worth it?
The dreaded updates
Computer programs are not concrete or stone structures where 'what you see is what you get.' Programs are fluid, ever-changing, like dominos laid out, a single misplaced piece can ruin the experience instantly. Likewise, a single misplaced code or a minuscule script typo can send the game to its grave, thus updates, patches and fixes are common thing in gaming. GTA V is not an exception, yes it is one of the greatest games Rockstar has ever produced. However, it is still a large pile of scripts made by people who get drowsy at some point of their lives.
Though the problem is not there, most of the time, these dreaded updates will cost money. Why pay for something that clearly was the developer's obligation in the first place. No game developer ever marketed a game telling people that they are selling an unpatched, broken game, over-hyped by marketing strategies banked on previous title successes.
Prices will eventually drop anyway
If one knew that a $60 game will cost around $20 next month, would that gamer wait for the $20 deal? Game prices drop like dead weight in water, it is an inevitability, so why spend more on a game that will clearly be worth considerably less in a few months. In fact, it is wiser to buy games later because the real gem of PC games are its DLCs. So save up for these DLCs by just being patient a little bit more.
Though it does not mean that gamers buying on release dates are illogical, but not all have funds ready for use anytime. Some gamers work hard to get the money needed to buy their favorite games and $60 is not that cheap. So, gamers who feel that they are left out when buying games not on release should be proud. In one way, it shows one's 'matured' mentality when dealing with one's own, hard-earned money.
