New features were made available for "Pillars of Eternity" latest patches which were recently released by the game developer. These patches, referring to the customization options for players, are still under beta testing. They were said to address the "near-encyclopaedic level of customization," one source cited.
Just some days ago, reports popped out about the new mod developed by Obsidian Entertainment were presented. According to them, these patches contained different new features but the majority of them were into the players' customization options. They both targeted the ability of the players to present their selves in the gameplay and the remove option for some combat mechanics.
The IE mod, as the game developer named it, contained all the essential collection of many smaller mods for the game's UI. As per one source, it described the in-game interface element that can be dragged elsewhere in the screen, which is made possible by this patch. Thus, there is much freedom to gamers as to how they wanted to place their party members' portraits on screen whether on top or at the bottom of the screen depending on their desired position.
On the other hand, with the remove option for the combat mechanics of the game -- one of the interesting things that this customization feature brings to players -- it allows the players to lessen the burden of their melee characters with their penalties if they tried to break away from a certain engagement. But this feature is just optional.
"Autosave" of the gameplay is the most amusing feature of this patch. Like the other amazing titles out there, each player desires to save their combats, their graphical tweaks, and also their loot items collected all throughout the gameplay. So, it's reasonable to add this option for a game.
However, this particular patch is still under beta testing. Brandon Adler, game producer said that the patches are still unstable.
He said, "We will be doing work on the patches and they haven't gone through a full QA cycle so unexpected things can happen. To be safe, I would avoid using any saved games that you do not want to get corrupted. If you do not want to use those saved games, it is at your own risk."
Although it is still under testing for Steam, the avid Pillars of Eternity players were able to experience its newest mod for the game. In terms of its size, it is massive that reaches around 500MB. But this hasn't been the problem for the gamers.
But the game developer hoped that they could also do beta testing with other platforms, however, right now, they are just possible for Steam, since it provides simpler way for this procedure, by saying, "The reason is that Steam provides a simple way to get folks into the beta. If any players know of any games that ran betas on GOG, please let me know so I can investigate."
Aside from the beta testing, they are also hoping that they could provide patches to address the bugs or any errors occurring in the entire game through the beta testing that they are developing.
