Ryan Gosling have already started to meet with director Guillermo Del Toro (The Hobbit, Pacific Rim) for the Disney film The Haunted Mansion, a remake of the 2003 film of the same title. The movie is a family adventure comedy but it will be more chilling this time and will have a Disneyland feel.
Although known for his roles either in romantic movies (The Notebook) or thrillers (Murder by Numbers, Drive), the project is not new to Ryan Gosling being a former Mickey Mouse Club member himself. According to a report, he was a Mouseketeer in the early 90s with batchmates Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears and Justine Timberlake. He was also cast in the horror TV series Are You Afraid of the Dark.

The original The Haunted Mansion starring Eddie Murphy is a comedy and slightly horror film. But a report says Guillermo del Toro wants to make it scarier this time. Del Toro, who has been working on the movie for 5 years, says he initially wanted it to be a frightening live-action 3d in an intensified reality. Scriptwriting is already in the works, The Haunted Mansion is adapted from a popular ride in Disneyland with the same name so del Toro wants it to be more real and fun as if moviegoers are in the said theme park ride.
Another report says the director has earlier mentioned that although a family movie, it may not be thatsuitable for kids as more screaming can be expected. He and Gosling have prepared that much for the movie. In fact, they were seen riding in the said theme park including the popular The Haunted Mansion last February. Both are even said to be big fans of Disney.
The original "Haunted Mansion" film is a story about a family man who always misses his family's activities because of his busy work as a real estate agent. In order to make time for them, he takes his family to a haunted mansion wherein he makes a deal that leads them to surprising discoveries. Ryan Gosling will play the family man in the said Guillermo del Toro remake.
