The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Features Advanced AI, CM Cites Artistic License For Unrealistic Body Mechanics and Decapitations

By

News of the upcoming sequel The Witcher 3 Wild hunt are spreading like wildfire and fans are really excited as to what story it will reveal. However, a series of flak came CD Projekt Red's way as some critics, criticize body mechanics of the game as being unrealistic. In response, CD Projekt Red Community Manager, Chris Priestly said on the game's official forum,

"Realism eh? Like shooting fire from your hands, undead spirits and giant lionbird monsters that fly? I know that is kind of a pissy argument because there is some "willing suspension of disbelief" that goes into a fantasy game and some elements of reality help keep things grounded. However, there is also artistic license and we like taking a few liberties for the sake of good visuals."

Priestly cites "Artistic license" as their basis for doing everything gamers saw and will see in the games they have and will create.

He further elaborated on the Witcher's Advanced AI, as covered by DualShockers, Priestly said that NPCs will react according to environmental situations such as in real life.

"Animals and monsters can attack each other. And random NPCs can and will attack or be attacked by monsters/creatures depending on the situation. One lone farmer walking down the road could be set upon by 2 - 3 wolves. He would likely try to run, but would probably become wolf dinner. A squad from the army would likely not get attacked in the same situation as the wolves are too smart to throw away their lives,"

This shows the level of AI increase the game have evolved to. On another note, CD Projekt Red revealed that they are making a more accessible modding tools for gamers to use. In an interview with Visual Effects Artist José Teixeira also covered by DualShockers, he said that the "REDkit" will allow modders to create good mods.

"We're working on it. During the development of the game we had to create many new things, many tools, and at this moment, this software, the REDKit, our REDEngine, is good but it's complicated to use."

At the moment, all signs are good for CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3 The Wild Hunt. The game is set for release on May 19, 2015.
