Dan Weiss and David Benioff previously broke the hearts of many readers when they revealed that the TV series, "Game of Thrones" may end even before George R.R. Martin completes the books. Martin spoke up and confessed that he still hopes that he gets to end the books before the TV series ends.
"They're catching up in some respects, but not in others. A lot of this depends on how many series there are," said Martin in an interview with The Sunday Times.
Martin added that Weiss and Benioff wanted to do seven "Game of Thrones" sequels, but he and HBO are hoping that the show gets to do more than just seven. This might come as great news for book fans of George R.R. Martin's "Game of Thrones" who do not wish to see the ending of the series on screen.
The news about "Game of Thrones" ending even before Martin finishes the books came as a shocking revelation for most book fans, especially because viewers will find out who ends up with the Iron Throne even before Martin reveals it in his books. Benioff expressed some of the readers' sentiments and explained that they had to go on even though Martin is still not finished with the books.
"I kind of wish that there were some things we didn't have to spoil, but we're kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place," explained Benioff, according to Metro. In another news, Martin explained the premiere episode of season five, which showed a young Cersei Lannister receiving a prophecy from Maggy the Frog.
"Prophecy is a staple element in fantasy, but it's tricky," Martin revealed to EW.
Martin also cited a number of prophecies in the show, including a Lord who was prophesized to die at a certain castle, so he tries to avoid that castle, but ends up dead at a pub with the castle on its sign. According to Martin, no matter how hard these characters try to avoid their prophecies, they have to examine these prophecies carefully because it may come in an unexpected manner.
