March this year when Google released a version of Android 5.0 Lollipop OS called Android 5.1 Lollipop. This version promises to fix numerous bug issues brought about by Android 5.0 Lollipop especially for Nexus users. Reports mention that Android 5.1 features particular repairs and tweaks for Nexus 7, Nexus 10, Nexus 6, and Nexus 5.
To install Android 5.1 Lollipop, first is to download and install USB drivers for Nexus 5 in a computer. Next is to enable USB debugging through: Menu > Settings > Applications. Press Developer Options to make sure USB Debugging is turned on and this allows Nexus 5 to be rooted. It is also prudent to make sure that ClockworkMod recovery is installed and that your device's battery is 70% full.
Now that the Nexus 5 is ready, connect the device to the computer with the downloaded files and with a USB cable, transfer the files to the SD card of Nexus 5. Next is to disconnect the device and turn it off. Rebooting the device follows by pressing: Volume Up, Home and Power altogether. Next is to wipe off data operations by proceeding to Wipe Data/Factory Reset then confirm. From there, select Install Zip from SDCard and then Choose Zip from SDCard where the Android file is saved. As soon as the ROM installation is complete, reboot the system.
Update Feedbacks
So far so good for Android 5.1 Lollipop on Nexus 5 and despite reports about rooted Nexus 7 with the new Android updates, several also report that their Nexus 5 devices are performing excellently with the recent Android updates. One of the most common issues with Nexus 5 is the constant reboot of the device and several users report that the same is not fixed yet with the recent Android update.
On another note, posts and reports at Google Nexus Help Forums indicate that Android 5.1 memory leaks could be real as there are significant decreases in application performance since its release. To elaborate, memory leaks is a bug where the device memory fills up and does not clear out resulting to crashes especially by applications that are memory intensive. With these reports building up, it may be safe to conclude that Android 5.1 Lollipop fails to address these issues and many Nexus 5 users are hope that Google finds a way to resolve this fast.
Battery life and connectivity remain consistent across all Android recent updates. Reports on slow charging and unexplained battery drain look like sporadic as these cases have been reported even before the Android update.
