Common Grand Theft Auto V Bugs on PC and Ways to Fix Them

By

As the Grand Theft Auto V begins to hit PCs today, Rockstar Games has drafted remedies for some of errors and problems players are commonly experiencing.

Some errors enlisted include preventing players to play the game, losing Online cars, Windows account names, failure to detect Windows Media Players, and Rockstar Social Club. Here are ways to solve them coming straight from the developer's point-of-view.

Windows Account Names

When installing an update, the game sometimes begin to lag behind and send error message. This can be attributed mainly to player's Windows account name. Account names containing other than a number or letter (regardless it be in uppercase or lowercase) will thwart the update installation from running appropriately.

Rockstar has released instructions on how to fix problems on Windows user accounts containing certain characters.

For the time being, players can opt to creating a new account with administrator privileges and a name containing allowable characters. Renaming the existing user account with unsupported character still cannot pass through.

However, Rockstar has not announced yet when the fix will be available.

Losing GTA Online Cars

Players who moved saved game of GTA Online from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions may lose cars if players have not played since December 2013. To prevent this from happening, Rockstar reminds players to log in to character on console before starting the transfer on PC.

Upon entering GTA Online on PS3 or Xbox 360, a Title Update prompt will pop up if the game has not been updated. Pause the game then head over to "Online" tab. Choose the "Leave GTA Online" option. The vehicles will automatically be transferred to PC.

Once an orange save icon at the bottom right corner of the screen disappears, progress will be saved. Start the transfer to PC. Rockstar suggests if players lost their vehicles while characters are already transported, submit a support request here.

Rockstar Social Club

A number of errors with regard to Rockstar Social Club has been reported. This includes failure to initialize, failure to load due to an incomplete installation, and updater failed.

For failure to load due to an incomplete installation, exit the game and re-install the latest version of the Social Club. When a prompt that a new version of the Club is required, the updater may have failed too. Exit the game and install the latest version of Social Club.

To download the Social Club, make sure GTA V is not running as well as the GTA5.exe, PlayGTAV.exe and GTAVLauncher.exe.

Failed Detection for Windows Media Player

Desktop running without Windows Media Player will surely experience failure of detection of the player. Players have to install it to prevent from the error.

Head over to Control Panel > Click Programs > Click Turn Windows Features On > Check the Windows Media Player > Click OK.
