Sherlock is back with an all-new season. By the looks of things Sherlock Season 4 is already shaping up to be an exciting season that fans of the show will surely love.
It was previously reported that Sherlock Season 4 will be "darker" in tone compared to the previous seasons. Stephen Moffat promised fans of the series to expect a more intense and suspense-filled season. Moffat had teased that the over-all theme of the season would be about "consequences".
"[Season 4] is going to be... I suppose you'd say... consequences. It's consequences. Chickens come to roost. It's dark in some ways-obviously it's great fun and a Sherlock Holmes romp and all that-but there's a sense of... things... coming back to bite you. It's not a safe, sensible way to live. It's hilarious and exhilarating some days, but some days it's going to be bloody frightening." Moffat said.
According to the latest Sherlock Season 4 Updates, the show won't have a bigger budget despite its popularity. The upcoming season also won't have famous guest stars, as Mark Gatiss believes that "it is better to be a star-maker."
Fans of Sherlock have been left with the nagging question if Moriarty really dies in the series. In fact, Sherlock fans have even come up with their own fan theories regarding Moriarty's demise. Moffat himself has already come forward and has confirmed that Moriarty does die in the series, and won't be coming back.
The series will indeed be showcasing "tougher" episodes in the upcoming season. Sherlock has been known to be extremely variable, from episode to episode.
"The first series was all about the beginning of their friendship. Second about the formative stages, the love and fear and loss and all that. The third was good days, me and my pal and my pal's wife. Those are golden days." Moffat said.
Fans would expect the new season to be aired in early 2016. The Christmas special will premiere in December 2015 and will be treated as a "stand-alone" episode and has nothing to do with Sherlock Season 4.
