The HTC One M9 Plus (HTC One M9+) was launched in China last week, and fans are not happy about the fact that the newest iteration of the company's flagship is snubbing the rest of the world.
Reports indicate that people outside China are expressing their discontent over the fact that a seemingly better version of the HTC One M9 won't be made available to them. In fact, some plan to bombard HTC CEO Cher Wang's social media accounts with messages expressing their discontent.
They might not need to do so anymore, since it appears that the new phone might not be exclusive to China for long. The rest of Asia, starting with India, got to see the HTC One M9 Plus launch.
The Taiwanese electronics company's decision to target China is not without merit, since China is currently the biggest market today -- bigger than any market, including North America.
The two main differences noted between the HTC One M9 and the HTC One M9 Plus are the display and the chipset.
The One M9 Plus has a 5.2-inch Quad HD 2k display with 534 ppi density while the One M9 has a 5-inch Full HD 1080p screen with 441 ppi density.
The HTC One M9 Plus has a Mediatek MT6795T chipset with an Octa-core 2.2 GHz CPU and a PowerVR G6200 while the One M9 has a Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 chipset backed by two CPUs (a Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and a Quad-core 2 GHz Cortex-A57) and an Adreno 430 GPU. This could be a move to address the alleged heating issue experienced by the Snapdragon 810, in a move reminiscent of Samsung's use of their Exynos.
The One M9 Plus also has a home button on the front which houses a fingerprint sensor.
The rest of the specs for both are the same: nano-SIM support, Android OS 5.0 (Lollipop), 3GB RAM, internal storage of 32GB (expandable up to 128GB via microSD), 20.7 main camera, and a 4MP secondary camera.
Until the difference in the HTC One M9 and the HTC One M9 Plus are seen in the coming days, people won't know if the latter really is better than the former.
