True Detective teaser and spoilers leave audience dark and more bloody goth-themed police investigation in store for the second season of HBO's hit TV series.
HBO releases a 60-second promotional video that features an all-star cast of Collin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch in action. Introduction of the True Detective Season 2 mentions it centres on a series of peculiar murders that forces a team composed of three law officers along with a criminal to solve. The second season is set in the industrial sweltering backdrop of California.
There is very less that viewers can gather from the 60-second trailer released by HBO but it gives everyone the same chills and mayhem that the first season offers. In fact, there is not a single dialogue in the teaser except interesting and dark shots of the four main stars. One source points out that the most intense moment in the video is at 0:13 where the mustached Ray Velcoro played by Colin Farrell is sitting opposite the severe Frank Semyon portrayed by Vince Vaughn. No words were uttered by the two but the atmosphere of the scene speaks for itself.
What makes True Detective Season 2, or at least its trailer, a potentially huge hit is that these four new main casts are known as be movie stars and not of TV series. The drift set by Matthew McConaughey continues as he plays Detective Rust Cohle in Season 1 as well as Claire Danes in Homeland. McConaughey's commitment as Rust Cohle is obvious on-screen. True Detective Season 2 Executive Producer Richard Brown gives Forbes an interview and commends how Matthew McConaughey gave his heart to the character. This level of intensity required from his character is the primary reason why Vince Vaughn faces a lot of pressure in this series.
"..he showed up on set 163 pounds, in just 18 days, and he is so disciplined that he didn't lose or gain a gram. He arrived on set completely in character." he mentions referring to McConaughey.
Following the trailer release, speculations and rumors on Season 2 are also out. On top of these is that a few episodes of True Detective are to be directed by The Exorcist creative mind, William Friedkin; however, the same unfortunately just a rumor despite several talks with Pizzolatto and Friedkin in the past. Moreover, it is a brief talk of the town whether the new season signs in Ami Amia Miley and Peta Jensen to engage in sporadic orgy in the show. However, this enlistment is confirmed neither by the executives nor of HBO, yet this does not mean these encounters are absent across the series.
True Detective Season 2 is still written by show creator Nic Pizzolatto and debuts on HBO on June 21.
