Castle Season 7 finale production recently started last April 8 and fans get occasional behind-the-scenes posts from Stana Katic who plays Detective Kate Beckett to provide first glimpse of the season ender. Aside from the fact that Castle does not air this week for a brief hiatus, Katic's Instagram posts ignite speculations that season 7 may be the last for Castle.
Castle show runner, David Amann hints that the season finale for Season 7 is a cliff-hanger that specifically focuses on Detective Beckett. The story now revolves on the mystery of the 2-month disappearance of Rick Castle and most of the clues both Castle and Beckett holds on are from his dreams.
One of Katic's controversial Instagram posts show her meditative as she stares at her NYPD 12 Precinct desk with the caption: "BTS 14: Goodnight, Precinct." Many take this photo as indication that Castle Season 8 is no longer happening.
Despite these rumors, Seamus Dever who plays Detective Kevin Ryan that he remains oblivious of the possibility of Castle renewal and implies that he himself is excited of his fate in the series. Until now, there are no exact announcements from ABC particularly on the renewal but ABC president Paul Lee hints that the drama "will be coming back".
Amidst all these positive insights about Castle's renewal, what remains pivotal in the decision are Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic contract negotiations. TVLine reports the two and ABC are still ironing things out which may mean there are serious things that needs to be worked on. Contract signing or renewal may not be too much of an issue though and sometime a show's rating is all it needs for a network to make sure a series is renewed. Audience see the same trend with other hit series such as Criminal Minds where Thomas Gibson signed for one more season just days before the production starts.
