Android Lollipop updates are recently announced across several models including LG G2, LG G3 and Note 4 by their mobile carriers. T-Mobile and AT&T's LG G2 for Android 5.0.2 Lollipop; Verizon's LG G3 for Android 5.0 Lollipop and US Cellular's Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge for Android 5.0.1 Lollipop.
After almost a month of carrier testing, T-Mobile rolls out Android 5.0.2 Lollipop updates for LG G2 under the software version, D80130b. The same update is received by LG G2 under AT&T under firmware, firmware D80020y. The update consumes roughly 871MB hence it is largely advisable that the device is 70% charged during the entire process. Normally, since these update are done over-the-air (OTA), users receive a notification about the update otherwise, it can be done manually. At LG G2 proceed to Settings > General > Update Center > System Updates > Check Now.
On the other hand, LG G3 under Verizon proclaims Android 5.0 Lollipop update. This announcement comes in a form of a .PDF file on Verizon's website where LG G3 owner get noteworthy update specifications and features such as Google's new Material Design language. LG adds their personal touch to the update and it includes updates to Smart Locks which permits an owner to use gestures and facial expressions to lock or unlock the phone.
The LG pushes through with the Android 5.1 Lollipop update after issues with mobile carriers and companies that initially promise update to Google's mobile OS, Android 5.0. These include Samsung, HTC, LG and Motorola that all enlisted for Google's android version. The update is an advantage for LG as owners of Galaxy Note 2 may still have to wait for these updates to take place.
Under Verizon's LG G3 the update can be done through: Settings > About Device > System Updates > Check For Updates
The latest of the android update queue are Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge under US Cellular. The Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update is done via OTA or through Samsung Skies hence a notification is necessary for the update to initiate.
