There have been a lot of discussion on how the famous web crawler will be joining other Marvel characters in the months or year ahead, but one thing looks certain: the latest "Spider-Man" film is slated for release in July 2017.
The hunt for a young actor who will fill in the shoes of Andrew Garfield has been going on, and producers have kept avid "Spider-Man" fans guessing. Marvel's reportedly keen on making audiences forget the sub-par showing of the last two "Spider-Man" films.
News has been floating around that Spidey will make a cameo appearance in the upcoming Marvel movie, "Captain America: Civil War." When Spiderman headlines his own solo film, audiences will see young Peter Parker. Sony Pictures and Marvel figured that there are interesting sides to his character that have yet to be explored.
Meantime, one of the current belles of tinseltown, notably "Divergent"/"Insurgent" star Shailene Woodley, has been vocal in expressing her interest to play one of the female leads. The 23-year-old star of "The Fault In Our Stars" and the "Divergent" trilogy essayed the role of Mary Jane Watson in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" but the scenes were ultimately deleted from the final product reportedly to give more focus to the romantic relationship of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacey, played by Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.
The question on some movie watchers' minds is whether Gwen Stacey, played by the charming Emma Stone, will return for the reboot? Or will producers stick to the Spiderman story of seeing Gwen Stacey being thrown off the Brooklyn Bridge by the Green Goblin? Some quarters dismiss Gwen Stacey's return as baseless rumor, though.
In any case, it's not likely that the new Spiderman film release will be reset to an earlier date. In all probability, it'll be lined up for a 2017 theatrical release alongside "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" and "Thor: Ragnarok."
