Can he land a knock-out win against his other opponent in politics? Not inside the ring anymore, Manny Pacquiao reported to run for Philippine presidency.
Days before the legendary fight between Manny Pacquaio and Floyd Mayweather ensue, Manny's promoter, Bob Arum, revealed the former's political plans. Arum bared that Manny may run for senator then for president in the Philippines. Arum made the revelation when he was interviewed by TMZ. Asked about his fighter's plan when he goes back to the Philippines after his fight, where he serves as a congressman, "Forget that. He's going to be a president," Arum declared.
"He's going to run for senate in the Philippines in 2016. And then in 2022, or maybe later, he'll run for President of the Philippines," said Arum. According to the Philippines' Constitution, where the requirements as a President were aligned, any candidate must be at least 40-years old, a natural-born citizen, can read and write, a registered voter, and a resident of the country for at least ten years immediately preceding the election.
Forty year-old Pacquaio has all these requirements making him fit to run as a President, if ever, in 2022, according to his team. Manny, aside from being a public servant in his own country, was also an eight-division champion in boxing, part-time singer, head-coach of his own basketball team, film producer, and an actor. The famous boxing champ is also a father to five and happily married to his wife, Jinkee Pacquaio.
Getting ready for his fight on May 2 with boxer Mayweather, Pacquiao just finished recording for his offered song to his countrymen on the date of his big fight. The song titled 'Lalaban ako para sa Filipino,' or 'I will Fight for the Filipino,' will be performed by Pacquiao himself on his fight which will be held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
As usual, Manny is also busy preparing himself for the fight through extensive training. He offered his fight for the Filipinos, and hopes to serve as an inspiration to them.
